What is Fadhkuruni adhkurkum about?

Verse 152 of Surah Al-Baqarah is a short promise that frames the whole practice of dhikr, the remembrance of Allah. It comes right after the verses on the change of the qibla and the sending of the Prophet ﷺ as a teacher, and it tells the believers how to respond to those favours: remember Allah and He will remember you, be grateful to Him and do not be ungrateful. Scholars read "I will remember you" as Allah’s mention of His servant before the angels, His mercy, and His help. The verse is why so many adhkar begin with the words of this ayah, and it is one of the most quoted lines in books on remembrance.

When is it recited?

  • Quoted at the start of morning and evening adhkar sessions as a reminder of why dhikr is made.
