رَبَّنَا لَا تُزِغْ قُلُوبَنَا بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنَا وَهَبْ لَنَا مِن لَّدُنكَ رَحْمَةً ۚ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ ٱلْوَهَّابُ

rabbanā lā tuzigh qulūbanā baʿda idh hadaytanā wahab lanā min ladunka raḥmatan innaka anta l-wahābu

[Who say], "Our Lord, let not our hearts deviate after You have guided us and grant us from Yourself mercy. Indeed, You are the Bestower.

What is Rabbana la tuzigh qulubana about?

Verse 8 of Surah Ali ’Imran is the dua of those firmly grounded in knowledge, mentioned in the verse just before it: "Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. You are the Bestower." It follows a verse about people who chase the ambiguous parts of the Quran to cause confusion, and it shows the opposite attitude: knowing that guidance is a gift that can be lost, and asking Allah to keep the heart steady. The name al-Wahhab, the Bestower, is chosen because steadfastness is a gift, not an achievement.

When is it recited?

  • A common dua in the last part of the night prayer and after the obligatory prayers.
