قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ ٱلْقُرُونِ ٱلْأُولَىٰ
qāla famā bālu l-qurūni l-ūlā
[Pharaoh] said, "Then what is the case of the former generations?"

He said, ‘What about former generations?’
