القارعة
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْقَارِعَةُ
يَوْمَ يَكُونُ ٱلنَّاسُ كَٱلْفَرَاشِ ٱلْمَبْثُوثِ
وَتَكُونُ ٱلْجِبَالُ كَٱلْعِهْنِ ٱلْمَنفُوشِ
فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
فَهُوَ فِى عِيشَةٍ رَّاضِيَةٍ
وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ
فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٌ
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا هِيَهْ
نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۢ
Al-Qari'ah names the Day when people will be like scattered moths and mountains like carded wool, then hangs every destiny on the scale: whoever's deeds weigh heavy will have a pleasant life, and whoever's weigh light — his refuge will be an abyss of blazing fire, Hawiyah.
Al-Qari'ah (القارعة) means "The Calamity" in English. It is chapter 101 of the Holy Quran.
Surah Al-Qari'ah has 11 verses (ayat). It appears on pages 600 to 600 of the mushaf.
Surah Al-Qari'ah is a Madani surah, revealed in Madinah after the Prophet's ﷺ migration.
