Explanation

الإضافة (Iḍāfah) joins two nouns to show possession or relationship, like "X of Y" in English.

Rules:

1. First noun (مضاف): Loses tanwin and definite article

2. Second noun (مضاف إليه): Always in genitive case (مجرور)

3. The phrase is definite if the second noun is definite

Examples:

  • كِتَابُ اللهِ = Book of Allah (Allah's book)
  • رَسُولُ اللهِ = Messenger of Allah
  • بَيْتُ الرَّجُلِ = House of the man
  • Quranic Examples
