لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ

البلد
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
لَآ أُقْسِمُ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ
وَأَنتَ حِلٌّۢ بِهَـٰذَا ٱلْبَلَدِ
وَوَالِدٍ وَمَا وَلَدَ
لَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا ٱلْإِنسَـٰنَ فِى كَبَدٍ
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّن يَقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ
يَقُولُ أَهْلَكْتُ مَالًا لُّبَدًا
أَيَحْسَبُ أَن لَّمْ يَرَهُۥٓ أَحَدٌ
أَلَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ عَيْنَيْنِ
وَلِسَانًا وَشَفَتَيْنِ
وَهَدَيْنَـٰهُ ٱلنَّجْدَيْنِ
فَلَا ٱقْتَحَمَ ٱلْعَقَبَةَ
وَمَآ أَدْرَىٰكَ مَا ٱلْعَقَبَةُ
فَكُّ رَقَبَةٍ
أَوْ إِطْعَـٰمٌ فِى يَوْمٍ ذِى مَسْغَبَةٍ
يَتِيمًا ذَا مَقْرَبَةٍ
أَوْ مِسْكِينًا ذَا مَتْرَبَةٍ
ثُمَّ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلصَّبْرِ وَتَوَاصَوْا۟ بِٱلْمَرْحَمَةِ
أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَيْمَنَةِ
وَٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا هُمْ أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْمَشْـَٔمَةِ
عَلَيْهِمْ نَارٌ مُّؤْصَدَةٌۢ
Al-Balad swears by Makkah, the city in which the Prophet ﷺ dwelt, and declares that man was created into hardship. It sets before him the steep path he has not attempted: freeing a slave, feeding the hungry orphan and the poor in the dust, and being among those who believe and counsel one another to patience and compassion.
Al-Balad (البلد) means "The City" in English. It is chapter 90 of the Holy Quran.
Surah Al-Balad has 20 verses (ayat). It appears on pages 594 to 594 of the mushaf.
Surah Al-Balad is a Madani surah, revealed in Madinah after the Prophet's ﷺ migration.
