At-Takwir unrolls the end of the cosmos in twelve strokes — the sun folded up, the stars falling, the mountains set in motion, the seas set aflame — until every soul knows what it has brought. It then defends the revelation: it is the word of a noble messenger, and not the word of a devil.
At-Takwir (التكوير) means "The Overthrowing" in English. It is chapter 81 of the Holy Quran.
Surah At-Takwir has 29 verses (ayat). It appears on page 586 of the mushaf.
Surah At-Takwir is a Makki surah, revealed in Makkah before the Prophet's ﷺ migration to Madinah.
