'Abasa opens with a divine correction: the Prophet ﷺ frowned and turned away when the blind Abdullah ibn Umm Maktum came seeking knowledge while he was occupied with the elite of Quraysh. The surah establishes forever that the sincere seeker outranks the indifferent notable, then turns to man's ingratitude despite the food, water, and crops laid out for him.
